Clash of the Titans (April 2)
As a proud mythology nerd, this movie could be a fantastic feature or a phenomenal flop. The original film is a classic, but special effects have certainly come a long way since 1981's stop motion, claymation monsters. I hope the 3D treatment that was added to the film after recent successful 3D movies (read: Avatar) doesn't distract from the story and the action too much.
Why Did I Get Married, Too? (April 2)
Tyler Perry's prequel may not have done very well in theaters, but is a movie with a great message about understanding as the core of any successful relationship. I'm not expecting much more than a dramatic movie with bits of romantic comedy and lots of yelling, crying, and redemption as with the first.
Date Night (April 9)
Five words will make this movie a success- Tina Fey and Steve Carrell. I haven't heard much about its critical reception so far and would really expect that there are more hilarious moments than those in the previews. I love the stars and am pretty excited to see them together as their awkward, nerdy, hilarious selves. Check out the extended trailer here.

Kick-Ass (April 16)
This is one of those movies that's gotten a lot of hype from insiders and has made me excited to see it. I'm not too sure about the plot other than a group of non-super-powered superheroes join together to fight crime and the agony of their daily lives. Oh, and the little girl is supposed to be very crude and sassy!
Death at a Funeral (April 16)
When I heard that there would be an American remake of this British film, I've got to admit that I was a bit disappointed. The original is quite possibly one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while (well, before The Hangover). However, this version has an all-star ensemble cast and appears to have kept a majority of the elements that made the British version work and added more American-style humor. Below is a pretty good mashup of each film's trailer:
Iron Man 2 (May 7)
I enjoyed the first one and hope the second can exceed my expectations. I was never a big fan of Iron Man comics (I preferred the X-Men) so I was sold on the story after the initial film. One thing that intrigues me and goes against superhero code though is Tony Stark's openness with his identity which isn't so secret. Robert Downey, Jr. does a great job in this role as a cocky yet brilliant anti-hero who happens to save the day.
Shrek Forever After (May 21)
In what is to be the final installment (though I'm assuming minds may be changed if this brings in a large enough revenue) of the Shrek franchise starring the lovable yet crotchety ogre, Shrek makes a deal with the devil. Okay, it's just Rumpelstiltskin, but that's not how the saying goes! Apparently the wish changes the world of Far, Far Away and characters that have become series staples are re-imagined. It's certainly an interesting concept; I just hope they don't reach too far for the story to seem credible and entertaining by being overly cheesy.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse (June 30)
I must admit that I've got a soft spot for this series (Team Jacob, all the way!) and hope that this is a better adaptation than the previous two efforts. The third book had a lot of interesting fight scenes as the vampires and wolf pack train to fight off Victoria and her vampire army. I'm especially looking forward to seeing how they portray Jasper Hale, the Civil War officer turned vampire who trains the good guys, fight his partner and Cullen family psychic Alice who can spot his next move once he decides to strike.
Salt (July 23)
I love seeing Angelina Jolie in action movies mostly because she can just look hardcore yet gorgeous when kicking butt. Oh, an added bonus to this is a bit of trivia- Tom Cruise was originally the lead, but Jolie was cast and the part rewritten for a female agent.
Let Me In (October 1)
You've probably never heard of this film, but I'm pretty excited to see it on the big screen. It's an adaptation of a Swedish hit called Let the Right One In about a young boy and the vampire girl next door. Supposedly, the original turned common vampire storytelling on its head and created a fresh look at the genre. Below is the trailer for the Swedish film:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1 (November 19)
Honestly, I wasn't super impressed with the last Harry Potter film as it left a lot of somewhat crucial information and character development out. The last movies are sure to be the darkest yet in this series and they have a huge task ahead of them to recreate the final chapter of this series. The book was phenomenal and I truly hope the filmmakers get this one right!
The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader (December 10)
This series might just be my guilty pleasure pick of this list. I really enjoyed all of the books-there are 7 total- and wish they could all be developed into movies. Sadly, I expect this will be the last adapted for the time being as Prince Caspian did not do as well as they had hoped and Harry Potter should still be sitting pretty atop the box office when this one premieres. Also, the other books would be a bit more challenging to portray and stay true to Elliot's original work. It will be very interesting to see how much they must change to make this film into a concise and entertaining package.
The Green Lantern (December 22)
Ryan Reynolds was enough to get me interested in this one. He's funny and so versatile yet able to bring his personality and humor into each role he plays. I loved him in Blade: Trinity and X-Men Origins: Wolverine which most closely relate to his role as this superhero. I must admit that I don't know much about the Green Lantern so it should be a great test if this film is able to portray his origin (or their origins, as may be more accurate) to a complete novice of the character.
