Things I Want to Do When I'm No Longer Broken
- Learn to ride a bike- So, I knew how to ride a bike when I was 4, but I also wore braces on my legs (no, not like Forrest Gump) for 4 years to cure a condition that I had called Legg–CalvĂ©–Perthes Syndrome. As such, I did in fact forget how to ride a bike and never found an opportunity to learn again.
- Go hiking, rafting & camping- Although it may be hard to believe, I really am more of an outdoor person than I often let on. However, I haven't taken many chances to capitalize on the natural resources around me--it's actually one of the things that I miss most about being a camp counselor.
- Be more active in general- I've always known it, but it's become much more of a serious issue with this injury-I desperately need to lose a significant amount of weight. It's a necessity and I will be more proactive about my diet, exercise and well-being. This isn't something that I can do alone so I may be calling on friends and the blog-world for guidance, support, and advice.
- Drive- I have missed the freedom and ability to drive and get around to wherever I need to go! Also, I love road trips and not being able to drive kind of puts a damper on that. Hopefully, I'll be up and driving soon and will be able to make some trips to see folks at Auburn and my friends in other states! Shoot--I'll be thrilled just to be able to go to the grocery store... which reminds me:
- Go to Wal-Mart- For whatever reason my brother and sister-in-law (to whom I am very, unquestioningly grateful for their support and sacrifices during this time) have a severe abhorrence of the wonder that is Wal-Mart. Needless to say, I've been going through serious withdrawals. I just want poor service, excessive lines, and practically every item I could need to purchase in one store- is that too much to ask for?
- Shower whenever I want- This may be a bit of TMI for some- I yearn for the ability to hop in the shower at any time. I've been very lucky that I have access to an accessible shower; however, said shower is not in this household which means we have to drive to get there which I can't do on my own. I'm not dirty, I promise- it just may be an extra day or so between showers than I would like. But not for long!
