My Favorite Musician by Chris Landry

I can't believe I never thought to share this on this blog!!

My favorite singer-songwriter has been Graham Colton for quite some time-since I saw him in concert with Better Than Ezra in 2002. He's got a young, soulful style and I simply adore his lyrics. They really capture a sense of what being a "twenty-something" is like today full of happiness and heartache, friendships and relationships. I try to share him with as many people as possible because he truly could be a major star one day very soon.

His sound is interesting- a fusion of rock, pop and country that's done much better than the "crossovers" when an artist of a particular genre changes the tempo and adds upbeat lyrics to be more appealing.

More than his musical abilities, he's very real and down-to-earth. I've had the chance to meet him after nearly every one of the 10 shows that I've seen and, though he may just be a good sport, I think he remembers me. He replies to questions and comments on Twitter and is very grateful to his fans. Since he's about to release a new album soon, he recently allowed fans to watch as he and his producing group put tthe finishing touches and backing vocals into some of the tracks. Honestly, watching a song come alive from such an early stage was one of the coolest things I've seen.

Below is a media player with some of the songs he released in preparationg for the upcoming album. His songs have been on a number of TV shows including "Life Unexpected," "Castle," and even "American Idol." Oh, and if I ever get around to making a movie, you'd better believe that he'll be on that soundtrack!!
