I'm not typically a crier in movies-- in fact, I can't think of any that have had me close to tears in recent years except Seven Pounds featuring Will Smith. Similarly, I don't like to be surprised with movies so I usually read a plot synopsis before I see a movie. This is especially true when I'm not sure about the movie's direction. Somehow, I didn't sneak a peek at the plot of this film and was very relieved upon seeing it. This is one movie that I actually saw more than once in theaters and loved it just as much if not more the second time around.
If you haven't seen it, I don't want to give much away about the film, but here's the theatrical trailer:
Will Smith portrays his character so well that viewer doesn't know whether to love him or hate him until the very end. Rosario Dawson also gives a stellar performance as a terminal patient living on borrowed time as she waits on a donor to save her life. I can't quite remember what got to me about this film, but it's extremely powerful and moving in a way that I can't really describe.
