I'm not super artistic in as much as I have very little actual talent when it comes to painting and such. However, it's great to see something hanging on my wall (or a friend's wall) that I made. Plus it's a whole heck of a lot cheaper. I've had something on my walls that I've made since 2003 though my tastes change fairly often! It's kind of hard to see, but the painting above my friend's TV was a housewarming present for him when he moved to Philly in 2005.
So, for my first project, I'm stealing something from my friend Ella. She posted a link for ruffly, felt wreaths that she's hoping to put together. Well, I'm not much of a wreath guy so I thought about how I could use the concept to fit with my life. I realized that I don't have any mirrors in my apartment except in the bathroom. My female friends get a bit frustrated when they come to town and have to fight to do their hair. My solution is to create felted squares of styrofoam a la this tutorial and find some mirrors to attach to them. Voila!

Last weekend, I also found a pretty nifty book, The Big Green Book of Recycled Crafts. It's got a lot of great projects mostly using household items and clothing. There are a few that I'm looking forward to tackling including the sweater sleeve turned wine bottle holder!
